Clocking In

My first job was the only place I ever had to 'clock in'.

Not hearing much about clocking in over the years and even seeing clocking in machines on those antique/flog it/make fortune TV shows I was surprised to learn my son has to clock in.

Is clocking in still common?

You may find that modern 'clocking in' (that also applies to senior staff) might be so that 'flexitime' arrangements can be monitored.
