AEC versus Leyland

I've been very interested in buses and trucks since I was about 10 years old. Eventually gathered around me a select band of friends, and travelled all over the UK checking out all manner of interesting vehicles. When a schoolboy, I was a real supporter of AEC whereas my mates all preferred Leyland. I just liked the quieter more civilised AEC engines, compared with the noisier rougher Leyland engines. So when I was ready to leave school, what did I do? Served an apprenticeship at Leyland!
What a sad and almost unbelievable end to a fine company, stuffed up by politicians and a lack of investment.

At least you remain part of the 'brotherhood' (of Leyland Apprentices).

Lots of your sort in Hong Kong . . .
