Thumbs up Hello from Dempsey.

Well, over the past week ive gradually increased my interest in busses massively. Ever since a kid, ive had an interest in old busses, the noise, the smell, everything, you know...

A mate mentioned the other day how fun it would be to own a bus. This got me thinking and i read more and more, and now i can definately be classified as a bus anorak.

Back when i was a kid, i remember the leyland nationals, in cream and green, with the brown/orange seats. I love those things, along with VR's, olympians, atlanteans, anything like that.

I'd love to own my own vintage bus, but, with my age barely being 20, i doubt thats going to happen

On a side note, im a bit of a closet anorak on other things such as railways (again, anything diesel, or old with a lot of noise) To be frank, anything with an engine....

I'm an active person, always doing somethign new, so mybe some day i will get that Leyland national, or olympian...

Thanks

Demps.

Hello Dempsey,

Welcome to the forum and enjoy looking around. Never say never, get yourself along to some bus rallies and running days. There are so many events going on around the country and as well as seeing some preserved vehicles you will meet some fantastic people (fellow anoraks).

Thanks for the warm welcome people.

I've being thinking about storage, and its logical to assume this is the largest hurdle, due to the rent on some places... I'd better start making some friends at rallies and what not...

Could i ever find insurance for a bus at such an age?

You might need insurance to cover it when in storage too.
An acquaintance had his open-top decker severely damaged by fire which spread from another vehicle stored in the same 'shed'.

This isn't meant to dissuade you, but you should know the possible pitfalls . . .

Its a strange thought to own a bus, ive seen a lot of buses crop up for ery little money, you can buy a hell of a lot for what you pay, heck i could buy an ex service bus for £1500! I have camera equipment more expensive than that.
