Bedford MK rear brakes
I need to service the rear brakes on a Bedford MK 4X4. Could someone please explain how to remove the rear brake drum. It looks like that I will have to start with removing the half shaft. Is that correct?

Yes, remove the half shaft then remove the hub.

Bedford rear brakes
Thanks for your helpful and quick response.
I have removed the rear brake drum and the brake cylinder with is seized. How is the cylinder stripped? I have removed a retainer ring from the side that the park brake rod enters the cylinder. What follows after that? |

My MK manual (not for your design of parking brake) states "remove the cylinder securing bolts and withdraw the cylinder".
"Remove the adjusters, spring clips and rubber boots and withdraw the pistons." Last edited by G-CPTN; 14th July 2015 at 17:18. |
