A Scottish bus company has taken steps to teach their Polish drivers "the Patter" to help them understand their passengers.

If the Buses in Birmingham are anything to go by, Just English would do!
My sister got on a Travel West Midlands bus and asked the driver how much to Merry Hill and he said" No English"......!!!!

The same could be said for Newcastle-upon-Tyne! I was trying to get a bus from Marlborough Crescent Bus Station to Bensham Bus Depot. I asked a driver behind the wheel of an old Leopard if he was going there. He said something, but it was totally unintelligible! I still have trouble with the Geordie accent to this day, but I have to say that watching repeats of "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet" with sub-titles has helped a little!

Yes, I know - You used to see it from the railway line as you approached Cental Station from the south - not any more. I know Haymarket Bus Station is still open, but what about Gallowgate and Worswick Street? The latter was the only place where I saw any NGT Routemasters - for some reason, on the 3 occasions I visited Bensham, there were never any there. Dunno why

Worswick Street is also long gone.
Gallowgate has 'moved' to Blenheim Street and is now (probably exclusively) National Express:- http://wikimapia.org/#lat=54.9678332...19&l=0&m=h&v=2

Looks like there's an open-top parked in the 'north-west' bay - I can't imagine what that was doing, I've never heard of any sightseeing service.

I didn't know you were 'one of us' . . .

Merry Hill!!! Have been there many times! I used to go to CMT in Cradeley Heath then go to Merry Hill for something to eat, mind, this is when it was in phase one. I also bought my best cassette deck there.

Anyway, off topic, sorry!
