Coat of Arms transfers?

Hi,
I am a complete newbie to this forum - so apologies in advance if this is considered silly.
I have an old landrover I am restoring and am toying with the idea of painting it up as a works support vehicle to Liverpool Corporation Transport. Painting and signwriting I would be OK with - but how to get the old Liverpool corporation coat of arms - so prominent on Liverpool transport vehicles?
Does anyone know how the preserved vehicles get on with this - or is it a question of hand painting that as well?

Regards - dai

Dai,

Greetings and welcome.

My suggestion is, in the absence of any others, maybe contact the Llangollen, Railway and see what they do. Thet might know someone you coukd speak to.
Another might be Messers Fox Transfers (Leicester area) who produce various transfers for railway modellers ans might be able scale something up or, at least offer advice.

Welcome to the forum.

I would suggest that you contact Liverpool Corporation and ask their advice.

Good suggestion - I know Fox from modelling, but never thought of them for full size!.
Again - hadn't thought about Llangollen - despite my nephew being a driver there!

Project is just in the planning stage - the truck needs a repaint anyway and I have always loved the old Liverpool buses I remember. Just my homage to them.

Problem is that Liverpool Corporation ceased to be many decades ago now. It is possible they still have some transfers around somewhere, but its unlikely.

Is there a museum dedicated to Liverpool Corporation vehicles (or that has LC vehicles that it has restored)?

If you get no joy with transfers, get a good-quality photograph (high resolution) of the coat-of-arms and get a vinyl 'wrap' made - most vehicle signwriters can transfer the image from a computer onto vinyl (and once done they can print as many copies as you want).

In our village the local signwriter offers this service.

The vinyl wrap sounds ideal. I already have photographs - so will talk to local sign maker. If they can print on clear vinyl it will be ideal.
