Hello.

Hi everybody, just found the site, courtesy of " Ships Nostalgia". A lot of ex merchant seamen hit the road in the late 60s, due to the job turning to s***. including me. I did 10 years tramping (without the luxury of an on board bed) Got fed up with being made redundant during thatchers reign of terror, changed tack completely and spent 25 years cleaning windows in Luton town centre.! Passed that on to my son and for last 2years been driving a recovery truck out of j 13 m1. Cheers, Grandad.

Until 1982 I used to commute daily via M1 J13 (B557 as it was in those days) from Bedford to Luton (it was quicker than A6).

Thanks mate, back in the 70,s i used to trade plate a lot of bedford trucks up as far as Airdrie, Stirling ,Glasgow, and Edinburgh, also G.M. at Whitburn? we also had a depot at Bathgate, and we pulled cars out of linwood and trucks out of the Leyland factory. It was a long hitch hike back thats for sure.some of the things we did for a living are almost unbelievable now. dont think 20 year olds of today would entertain such adventures do you?. Grandad.
