Well, the good news is that it appears in the GB registration database - though is described as a van, so, presumably, someone has fitted a box on the back for living it (at shows?).

You could send a letter to DVLA (with a letter to the owner).
Explain that you were once the owner and that you wish to make contact with the current owner with a view to sharing the history and possibly seeing it again.

There is a nominal fee for this service (it's what the parking companies pay to get the registered owners of vehicles overstaying their time in private carparks).

There are several allowable reasons that the DVLA accept although it's 'at their discretion' as to whether they will supply you with the information or even forward your letter.

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...icle/DG_180097

Whilst they might not release the current owner's address, they might forward a letter (be sure to affix a stamp and enclose your payment).

Enquiries by post

You’ll need to fill in a ‘Request for information’ (V888) form if you want information about:

another vehicle’s keeper details – the fee for this is £2.50
previous keepers for a vehicle now registered in your name – the fee for this is £5.00
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...cle/DG_4022067

I suggest that you fill in form V888 and send two cheques for £2.50 along with your letters:-

Don't forget the 'proof of address':-
Quote:
You will need to provide proof of your address with your application. If you do not provide a copy of one of the documents from the list below we will not be able to deal with your application and will return it to you.
Documents to confirm your address:
• a gas, electricity, water or landline phone bill issued in the last three months, or
• a bank or building society statement issued in the last three months.
Good luck!

Car parked at the top of the hill as I'm intending to head south tomorrow to spend the weekend with my son and grandsons.

I'm hoping that they'll have dealt with the snow in the Midlands by the time I get there.
