Runaway Lane Experiences
On another board a question was asked about what it feels to take a soft gravel runaway lane? Can anyone offer the story of their experience to us armchair truckers?

Not quite so rough!
Yeah, I've seen that wild ride. I have seen various runaway lanes with vehicle tracks and the signs of vehicles having been towed out of them, but I was wondering what were the problems that made the drivers go for the lanes, how was the ride, what damage to the truck resulted, any damage to the load (I suppose that depends on the load too), and how was the truck extracted. I live in Nova Scotia and I think there are one or two in this province and I have seen plenty in western and eastern Pennsylvania on secondary roads.
Thanks. Alan Taylor |
