Hi G-CPTN, good morning, I must admit, I have become a convert to the whole, public transport priority principle. And this after having been more extreme in my defence of private car usage, than two and a half Jeremy Clarksons.
It quite simply makes no sense for the current situation of motor car saturation and environmental desecration to continue on this upward spiral.
I have a car, but since retiring, it sits on the drive rarely moving, (less than two thousand miles a year for the last three years). I keep it for my Daughter and Wife to get their weekly shopping, together, and for times when the bus and train services are not available or suitable. But for my own part, I would happily be shot of it.
Sadly without bold government initiatives, like taxpayer funded public transport, produced and put on the streets in sufficient numbers to make it a viable option for many people, it seems, financial impositions for car use will continue to be the unjust way in which it will be addressed. I.e. only the less well off, will be affected.
It is a chicken and egg situation, but any sane person knows, you do not take a dramatic dive from a bridge, without first affixing a bungee rope to your ankles and it makes sense to ensure that one has a hanky in place before blowing one's nose.
