Indeed, our local Tesco store operates a 3-hour limit on parking monitored by CCTV and ANPR (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automat...te_recognition ). They get your details from DVLA and send you a £70 'fine' (or parking charge) if they record you leaving more than 3 hours after you arrived (even if you have been 'away' in between!). I haven't discovered when they reset the clock . . .
