Hoseasons

An entrepreneur who built up his family's Suffolk-based holiday business into a nationally-known firm, has died.

Jimmy Hoseason, who was 82, took over the business in Lowestoft in 1950.

His father, Wally, had set up Hoseasons six years earlier to offer boating holidays on the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.

By the 1990s it was providing a million holidays across the UK and parts of Europe. Mr Hoseason retired 10 years ago, selling the company for £22m.

His son, James, was then a director in the company.

Speaking to the BBC in 1999, Mr Hoseason, said: "I've seen so many changes over the last 50 years, and if you look particularly at the boating industry on the Norfolk Broads, the changes are enormous.

"I'm quite content to leave the responsibility to a very experienced and very capable team here."

The company is still based in Lowestoft and employs about 200 people.
