Quote:
CHILDREN from one of Tynedale’s most remote villages have been abandoned by two county councils.
Although Hunstanworth is in County Durham, children from the village have traditionally attended schools in Tynedale.
But at the end of the last school term parents were told as from September they would no longer qualify for school transport.
“The children in question live in rather remote areas and there was no transport running from where they lived to their catchment schools in Durham.
As a result, Durham County Council took the decision to arrange for these children to travel on school transport that was running just over the border to non-catchment schools in Northumberland."
