Aye backsplice the AV690 was the biggest engine put in the pre-ergo Mandators and it was also installed in the 8-legger MK5 Mammoth Major.I drove various AECs from the MK3 up.Some of the 8-leggers had a smaller engine (580?) and a 5-speed box and they were hard work but I was given a MK5 tanker, 526 GYG with 6-speed box and rotary fuel pump - CAV I think- and it was a flyer.
When the ergo Mandators came out in 1965 some still had the AV690 engine but the bigger AV760 became standard and this engine was the basis for the TL12 engine that was installed in the Marathon.
