I have seen flop-flops made from old tyres and they work very well.

Are there still companies making street furniture (bollards and the like) from shredded truck tyres?
I believe that they also make 'tarmac' for children's playgrounds (from shredded truck tyres).

The cement industry uses it as a substitute fuel for the kilns and as you say it's used for sports and play areas.
Think it's also used for carpet underlay.
