Stagecoach
Stagecoach has been named as the preferred bidder for Eastbourne Buses. The sale of the company has been anticipated for some months, and Eastbourne council says the decision to sell to Stagecoach follows “a full competitive process to ensure best value for council tax payers”. It is understood that Go-Ahead was also interested in buying the company.
Eastbourne Buses was the world’s first municipal bus operation when it started in 1903. Today the business is owned by the council with Keolis having a 20 per cent stake.
