Old bus
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys
I have spotted this old bus in Zimbabwe and I am trying to find out what model it is. Here is a pic of it Attachment 377 |
That is a Bedford S-type truck cowl.
The S-type was a 7-tonner IIRC, and, as such was known as the Big Bedford (previous models were 5-tonners). The S-type was superceded in 1959 by the TK. The S-type cab design persisted with the R-type 3-ton 4x4 which became the standard Army truck (including the Green Goddess) from the 1950s until 1969. |
Thanks for the info
Where can I find the manufactures plate and with that info can I find the exact year model. And where can I get info like weight and dimensions as I am trying to arrange the necessary documents and transport to get it out of Zimbabwe and into South Africa Thanks |
The manufacturer's plate is usually on the left hand interior wheelarch, underneath the passenger seat mounting.
There would be many options, particularly on a chassis that was supplied as a truck that was converted into a bus. It could have been operated as a truck before being rebodied as a bus, however, there was a model SB which was designated as a bus chassis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedford_SB |
