Bedford brakes issue
Hi guys, I am new to this site but I've been the proud owner of a 1974 Bedford Dominant for a couple of years. Unfortunately, this year my coach failed its MOT on a couple of things, the most significant being the brake effort on the rear axle and leaky exhaust... I took the coach to a garage to have it inspected / repaired and was told that both my rear drums are rotten beyond repair.
Easily remedied I thought but I cannot seem to be able to get hold of a new (or used) set of drums... no one seems to stock parts for these anymore and I don't know what to do now... my coach is built on a YRQ chassis, I was hoping that someone here might be able to help or point me in the right direction. |
The drums will be common with the equivalent Bedford truck (dependant on the model of rear axle fitted).
The axle may be an Eaton axle or, of course, a Bedford one. Alternatively, a good machine shop should be able to skim the drums (unless they have already been machined beyond the limit). http://www.winnard.co.uk/service_guide.htm |
Consider an advert on a website such as this:- http://www.skylineaviation.co.uk/buses/help.html

Thanks for the advice... would you know how I can identify the rear axle on my bus and what wou.d be the equivalent truck part?? From a TK?
I'll post an ad and see if I have any luck |

Probably a TK KH model would be the equivalent, or maybe a KG model or possibly a KM model. A reasonable fitter should be able to help you, especially one that works with buses. |
