Renault Magnums in New Zealand
I have posted 3 photos today showing 12 Magnums on the Auckland wharves.
They have arrived from Tahiti and there is nothing on them to indicate where they are going. But being left hookers and single drivers I doubt that they will stay here.'My guess is that they will be transshipped to New Caledonia. I am interested in where they came from originally. All ID has been removed, and beleive me I have looked. But they do have a Renault badge which appears to be from a garage in Dinan. is this a French town/city. There is evidence of a previous operator, the first letters are GI or GE and the last two EN or IN. All except one have had previous colour stripes removed. I have included a shot of the only one with the previous stripes. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone. What year are they. We just never see the Magnum in NZ and I was staggered when I saw them and initially thought whoa!!,... finally they are coming here. But alas, they were all 2nd hand. Love to hear any info from anybody. Rgds/Mike P/s, also on the wharf is a 1977 KW tractor with a Leyland Boxer cab on the back heading to Southampton. Will upload a photo if I can get one. Unfort at the moment it is in a position where I can't shoot it. |
Renault Magnums in New Zealand
These trucks have now recvd shipping labels.
They are going to Noumea, in New Caledonia, on the vessel Southern Fleur this week. They had earlier arrived from Tahiti. What a shame, I'd have loved to see them stay here. Rgds/Mike |
