European Truck Factory (ETF)

Here's an interesting concept on mining trucks and haul trains (and I think it is just a concept at the moment). Pretty interesting site - worth a flick through the (not many) pages.

A little more here and some pieces on 'normal' road trains too...

Yes, it seems to be just a concept so far, but there's no reason why it cannot be a reality, after all, such things as these exist:-

European Truck Factory? - or Emirates Truck Factory?
http://www.biznessuae.com/comp-32459...ck_Factory.htm

Quote:

Emirates Truck factory (FZC) is established in August 2005 under the laws of the Emirate Ras Al Khaimah.

In 1995 the first steps for the development of a new mining truck were made by the founder of the company. He experienced the inefficiency of existing large haulage trucks and noticed the need for a new design during his fifteen years stay in Indonesia. After moving to Germany the formal development started, five young engineers and two seasoned engineers started to develop what is now the most modern truck on the market.

Innovations:

The founder of ETF started some nine years ago analising the imperfectness of the existing Mining and Construction vehicles. Many interviews with the management of mining companies and operators gave a good picture of what could be improved. ETF is a new player on the market dominated by five large companies. The tag line "Applied technical innovations " is exactly what ETF is all about. Technical innovations with the target to increase productivity and reduce costs.

I've seen the Emirates thing but going to their website brought me back to the European page so I just figured the "E" was a clever name that could be set up in any place begining with "E"

Seems the original concept was the Emirates version, but it seems to have morphed into the European version with engineers based in Germany:-

Haven't seen any real hardware yet, though, it's all CGI.

Hope they have Middle East backing (money) and can bring it to fruition.
