Question: wiring colours

I have bought a new 24v/12v voltage dropper from an ex-military source. This is labelled as a Seddon Atkinson part. There are four wires in a short loom, Yellow, Yellow/white, Black, Black/white.
Does anyone know which pair would be the 24v input and which would be the 12v output?
I wish to use the component on a boat, and so do not have the mating multiplug to connect it to, which would normally identify which wires were which.

The yellow blob is a fuse holder, most likely the 24 volt supply, smaller conductor. Other yellow would be 12v output. Lower the voltage higher the current, therefore larger conductor, for a given power as I am sure you know.

It must be switched on the 24v side as it consumes power at all times even if there is no 12v load.

Thanks. I'll try that combination. I had assumed it was an insulated return unit, therefore with two wires for each supply.
