Self billing

Newbie on this forum :)

I'm looking into the haulage industry and was hoping someone can educate me on self-billing arrangements within the haulage industry?

How does this work for the most of you - I assume its quite common when subcontracting for larger companies?

Also what does the term 'contra' refer to in terms of self billing?

I'm learning up on the industry so any information or websites you think might be insightful would be appreciated! Especially accounting within the industry would be beneficial!

Also any of your own experiences subcontracting would make a good read.
