Wheel Nuts
Hi folks
I'm currently restoring a Scammell but i'm looking for some wheel nuts. 7/8 BSF RH and LH thread. What i'm looking for is very simular to a Bristol Bus wheel nut. Can anybody help ? do you know of any ? does anyone manufacture these still or maybe making reproductions? Thankyou for taking the time to read this. Regards James |
Welcome to Truck and Bus James, I do hope you have luck finding wheel nuts. Please post some photos of your restoration project.

As reqested a picture of my 1948 Scammell 20 LA just after delivery. I've now been working on this for about 5 years. It should be finished next year. I hope.

Plenty of scope there!
|
Is that it ?, where's the rest of it ? cab etc.
Also, is that a cement mixer on the lefthand side of the photo just behind Scammell? |

That was all I had. Its going back in the original livery of Beck & Pollitzer which is the only company it was owned by.
I attach a pic of how its going so far, still a little more to go. Yes it is a mixer in the last picture, it has a petter engine and is the best mixer ive ever used, it will mix faster than you can shovel. |
Looking good so far!
Keep it up . . . |
Lookin well
Hang in there :) |
Have you got the window glasses?
|
Yes the windscreens are now in the only glass i still need to get and fit are the windows for the doors. The picture is a little out of date.
But the wheel nuts are like hens teeth. I have tried the scammell Register but they dont keep stock of many parts. All the parts i've seen in scrap yards are in the same condition as what i have now. Somebody must be producing new parts or have a set on a shelf somewhere. |
What about trailer parts suppliers?
There must be lots of ancient trailers still around. |
Can you send a photo of one ?
|
I got a 'hit' on an internet search:-
6463Z101 WHEEL NUT L/H 7/8'' 28 in stock but it turns out that the supplier is in Australia! - I can't imagine that the carriage charge would be cheap - but at least it might give you a part number to work with:- http://www.mrmotorparts.com.au/docs/...ellaneous.pdf3 |
Hey thanks for the info, i will post a picture asap.
