That engine looks to me like a petrol engine(with distributor and ignition coil). |

I'll stick them back up later... problem at the mo !:( http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...01988001-4.jpghttp://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...01988002-4.jpghttp://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...01988003-8.jpghttp://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...01988004-5.jpghttp://i852.photobucket.com/albums/a...01988005-3.jpg

Yep appears to be petrol..were Commer Avengers petrol?

There would always be an option, in fact petrol might have been 'standard' until diesel became popular.
What puzzles me is the photographs seem to show a mid-engined bus chassis - I'm not familiar with Commer bus chassis, but this suggests that the Avenger was an underfloor design:- http://www.mediastorehouse.com/comme...t/4001747.html (read the text on the illustration) |

I think the above pdf might be for a MkI Avenger - it seems to be front-engined. http://www.commer.org.nz/Commer_Conn...enger_Bus.html |

Well thats it then ..a 572 mk2 ! Fast detective work there , thanks !
