Hello and welcome to the forum, have a good look round, enjoy and all the best.
|
thankyou for the welcome it may be a bit more awkward with the time zone & poppa nap times :)
|
Welcome, darloboy.
Don't worry about the time-zone difference - there are people such as myself who keep unusual hours, so your contributions will be appreciated. My father lived in Darlington when he was a young boy - though I'm not certain where (and I can no longer ask him . . . ). I think it was Stanhope Road. When the 1921 Census is released in 2022 I might find out. |
That's if you live that long!!;):D:D:D
Seriously though, welcome darloboy from a currently very wet but usually sunny Isle of Anglesey. I also am one of the members on here who keeps unusual hours and am likely to be on whenever you might think that the UK is asleep. |
was at school just up from stanhope rd ,i lived in the harrowgate hill area in the north of town but left in'62 to go military got wed haven't really stopped travelling we use a c/van to fill the travel urge

I'll set up a fan and also start blowing at the clouds to see if I can send them your way.

Welcome Darloboy. We'll swap you. Our rain for your sun. I was in Perth W.A. in 2003 and saw 10minutes of rain in all the weeks I was there!
|
First time I visited Sydney, I had been advised that I 'wouldn't need a raincoat', but they were having the most severe rains for years - all public transport was stopped and there were floods 'everywhere' (with walls toppled by the flow of water through residential districts).
Apparently it was August 1986:- Quote:

rain
the trouble with perth is we are on the west coast ,sidney on the east some 4.000 kms away where the rain comes south from queensland 'cos they don't want it upsetting the holiday makers was in the sidney western suburbs jan '10 it rained so much a train was washed off the tracks in the mountains.

Rain?? RAIN??? I walked up to Morrissons about 3 hours ago (about a mile away) and got absolutely soaked through, it really came on hard as I was walking up the A55, my coat and jeans are saturated.

rain?
mornin' if & when it gets wet it is torrential but we are in a deadly drought in the west east side is wet & full for the 1st time in ages In Darwin the locals just carry on normal when it is wet as it is warm shirts & blouses get washed as you walk soon dry out to yesterday was driving the 0305 today is fixing fg austin bus has a bit of rust but it is unrecognizable with it's local tin work
|
Is the 0305 one of these?

a wet wot?
thats the way it is no one cares about who looks like what ,after 5 mins business as usual
yes 0305 is the merc the guy i drive for has 7 but only 5 are usable I made a 2 door to a one door fitted 3 extra seats as we cart under 12,s 3 to a2seat is an extra 9 kids all short haul we are short of steering wheel attendants & the schools all take the cheaper option we don't really have a bad rust problem here no snow or ice so no salted roads but in the salty areas where the salt lakes are or the "farms" then it does show itself so our vehicles last a tad longer ,parts then become the killer as the expensive bits become scarce |
oh yes the speed lised in the text as 75kph is a bit out IF the road is flat & long enough we get 83kph(51 mph) unmodified 'we' have 2wiyh hi-speed diff's slow take off but do 60 mph at a good run
