Newbie from Dubbo, NSW Australia

Hello to all members!

I'm Joe Hupp and I live in Dubbo, NSW, Australia. I am a avid truck photographer, specialising in the older trucks! Recent floods have brought out my modern truck prodigy as they had a heck of a lot of people photographing them!

If you want to know more, ask me! I don't bite!

Joe

I look forward to seeing your photographs, maybe ones of types that we don't see in the UK - or ones that came from the UK originally and have survived (whereas the UK ones have been scrapped).

huppypuppy 28th December 2010 23:53

G-CPTN,

I have just posted a photo of a Kenworth K108 in the Gallery - have a look!

Joe

G-CPTN 28th December 2010 23:59

Yes, I saw that - we don't get many KWs here - and no doubles (as yet).

G'day Chris,

Thanks for the welcome! I hope you'll all enjoy my eclectic mix of old and new trucks from Australia!

Joe

I'm certainly enjoying the additional variety!

Many thanks and please stay around and show us some more.

Gidday Joe,
Welcome aboard, I'm very pleased to see another member from this part of the world. Plus one that is obviously very knowledgeable, which I'm not.
This is a great site, you'll enjoy it.

Now for a question, as you said you don't bite.

I saw many long B-dubs heading to and from Sydney at Bathurst. What happens when they get to the Blue Mountains as the long ones can't cross. Are they split in Lithgow, or do they go via the Bell Line.

Mike

huppypuppy 29th December 2010 19:47

Mike,

There's two types of B-Double you have photographed - the 19m ones are unrestricted access while the 25/26m ones are restricted access.

The restricted access (25/26m) B-Doubles are not allowed east of Lithgow - they usually send semis down from Dubbo to Sydney anyway! The unrestricted access B-Doubles are allowed to use all roads in NSW while the restricted access B-Doubles are mainly restricted to the Newell and Hume Highways!

Howdy Pat,

Check out the gallery - I have been fairly busy putting some pics in! And thanks for the welcome!

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your response.
I am very curious now. Surely all those long B-dubs that I shot heading to and from Lithgow were not all turning round at Lithgow. After all it's not that big. So where else would they be going. There seemed to be heaps of Finnemore's and Booth's long rigs, plus those big turd haulers, as you so sweetly call them!.
In Sydney I saw a lot of the long B-dubs also, check out those big Cootes tankers. (I assume that a b-dub hauling a 20 and a 40ft container constitutes a long truck).

I recently posted a photo of an Owens International that I labeled as an ACCO. A member told me that it was not an ACCO but a 2700. I did some checking and it appears to have an ACCO cab, but is a 2700 model. So surely it is still an ACCO.
Are you able to clarify this at all.

Sorry for all the questions, but you seem to be much more up with the play than me.

Rgds/Mike

huppypuppy 29th December 2010 22:00

Mike,

I'm only too glad to help!

Re: 25/26m B-Doubles: They just split at Lithgow - another driver comes down with another truck and takes the other trailer into Sydney

Re: the ACCO/2700: If the truck in question looks like a T2670 with the more modern (at the time) International black and yellow badge, it will be a T2700 - if not, it would be a ACCO!

Have you got a link to the truck in question (ACCO/2700) so I can confirm what I have just said???

Joe

hilifta 29th December 2010 22:34

Hi Joe,

I have just tried to add a link, but can't seem to make it work, I'm a bit thick when it comes to computors.
Just type in International ACCO and it should come up tho.

Thanks G-CPTN!

Mike, to actually confirm what I said in my earlier post about the truck, it (and this one: http://www.truckandbusforum.com/gall...php?i=9210&c=2) are both T2700 models!

hello

hi huppypuppy welcome to the club join in stir a bit post a pic i live out west (wa) perth am into bus old for the use of but this month i am on the bell line of road or as hilifta has said goat track i totally agree most unsuitable for heavy vehicles or any thing towing part of it was washed away 2 weeks ago still not fixed sound familiar? according to the notice the new length for nullabor crossing is now 36 meters allowing b triples across welcome again geof the darloboy

huppypuppy 2nd January 2011 08:16

Geof,

I agree there - no heavy loads west of the Newell Highway from the Queensland border to Marsden (just south of Forbes) due to flooding. Even had a creek halfway between Dubbo and Narromine (which you may or may not have crossed on your way through) cover the road and the RTA closed it! There were many damaged roads around Dubbo - Bligh Street south of the Centro shopping centre to Macquarie Street and the Troy causeway on Yarrandale Road were two road areas to suffer major damage!

darloboy 3rd January 2011 10:37

road closures

hi again joe we had aweek or so in dubbo 13 months ago when it was bone dry then we came thro' 18 days ago we (the navigator & me) have never seen such a change or so much flood damage we stopped at as many coffee outlets as we could spent a few bucks on refreshment had a chat (as u do) heart breaking for some folks even after a dry but most said they would get over it carry on again geof

huppypuppy 8th January 2011 06:07

Geof,

It was shocking - closed both the major shopping centres down for a week 3 weeks out from Christmas - it killed a lot of traders' incomes..... but what can ya do???
