Strachan's transporter

Hi all

I am new to this forum and have joined to try and find out some information on the transporter pictured below. Here is what I know about the transporter so far.

Ford Advanced Vehicles in Slough comissioned 2 transporters to be built to transport it's race cars in 1964. The were bodied by Strachans of Hamble, England. The same transporter is also featured on the front cover of a Strachan's PACE brochure (also see attached). However I've been unable to find any more pictures or this brochure so that's all I know about the transporters.

After looking through many pictures of Strachan bodied buses etc I can't seem to find anything similar. If anyone can give me any more details on this vehicle, the chassis it uses, history etc I would be very grateful

Many thanks

Trevor

My, how things have changed since 1964.

Today's transporters would be twice the length and convert into an office for the team.

Thanks for replying and the links to the posts. I started one of those original post on gt40s.com so I've already read all that info but other than that none of us seem to know much about the transporters. What happened to them after Ford finished using them, did they get sold, do Ford still own them, did it end up on the scrap heap etc? It would be really interesting to try and find out what happened to them both

GML 128B no longer appears in the GB registration database, so it's not currently 'in use'.

It might be in a museum collection or in a private owner's premises.
