Ah! I learned my drawing at Uni, so I started-off detailing and then designing.

Wiring harnesses were buggahs! I never did any at work, but I draughted one for my 1936 MG and then made it from scratch (using all the correct colour-coded wires and bullet connectors) laying it out on the living-room floor and binding it with harness tape. I did have a schematic from the handbook to work from (as well as the original harness).

I was in mechanical design and soon specialised in suspensions.

The clever blokes did exhaust systems.

Later (much later) I progressed to gearshifts.
