Pls identify six-wheeled bus

Hi all,

Thank you for any comments on this old bus, which is from a painting I have. The photo for the painting was Laos about 1964. The painting is a landscape of a Mekong village, and was painted in about 1975 in Nicaragua. Buses in Laos in the 1960's were sometimes brought into the country from France and nearby countries. It could be from the US, as there was a CIA base nearby.

It seems to be a rear view with an open window, someone leaning out to wave. Six wheels, which seems uncommon. Door is behind the front wheel. Looks like another window above the front wheel.

Yellow/brown color behind the bus is just a house, and the white lines coming off the bus roof is just cracked paint. There are no train rails.

I'm glad to have found your forum and look forward to your thoughts.

I don't think that that painting represents an accurate image of any real vehicle (the wheel-spacing is completely wrong for it to 'work').

Thank you, that's interesting.

The painting title, scratched lightly into the wood back, identifies a secret-at-the-time tunnel likely used for opium. In the painting, only crossed trees point to the entrance. The inaccurate bus may indicate that there was a form of transportation but they did not want to identify the vehicle.

That helps, thanks for posting.

Trolley/train?

Would it work as a train car or trolley, if there were tracks?
