Hello everyone, I'll keep it brief (limited buffer on PS3).

I have always been into Road Transport. I joined British Leyland in 1969 as an Engineering Apprentice at Cowley. From 1972 until my (early) retirement in 2006 I was a computer programmer with the various owners of the computer department.

I collect diecasts. Mostly 1:50 and 1:76. I have a fair number of 1:76 Hong Kong buses though the supply of them to the UK seems to have dried up in recent years. I did buy one (on sale) the other day... image is from Oriental Model Buses site...

I always think 3 axle buses look impressive. Some HK buses have made it back to these shores for preservation.

I also make Plastic Kits. I have made a number of US and a few UK Trucks (1/24 or 1/25), but mostly cars. Revell did release a rather impressive Coach last year which I am plucking up the courage to make (painting is the main worry!)...

Back in the 1980s I used to visit to work with the bus companies.
Many of the engineering staff were ex-pat Leyland apprentices.

Thanks for the welcome. I have never been to Hong Kong. Only time I have been out of the country was a couple of days in Holland many years ago!

I think the only places I would be interested in seeing would be perhaps Hong Kong, especially for the buses. I wouldn't mind going to America as I rather like their variety of long distance trucks. Finally, Japan as I have a few Japanese train simulators on my PS2 which use real video footage. There is one journey (in demo mode) which meanders through the Japanese countryside for almost an hour, which gives a fair impression of the country. At one point the train is travelling next to the sea! Trying to control the thing yourself is not easy. At least with demo mode you can sit back and watch the scenery.

Having no passport and a shortage of sufficient money for such jaunts I am not thinking of any long trips at the moment.
