A former Radio Newcastle presenter previously worked for Pickfords.
On his first day at work they sent him out to assess the movement of a glider engine . . .

Welcome - and I hope you can regale us with some interesting stories (and maybe some photographs, too!).

Hi dave.
I've thumbed through your flickr images and also your blog.
What I would like to see in the gallery here is some of the heavy haul photographs with some description about the background to the task and any foibles encountered.
For the models, as someone who last made early Airfix models (and only as intended - well, as much as I could!) I'd like to read about why you take apart ready-built models such as the JCB Transits - is it simply to change the livery or do you cut and shut them into something different?
I would also be interested in how you paint them (I only ever used brushes) and do you use Letraset for things such as names and registration numbers?

Things that may seem everyday activities to you would be fascinating to those of us that don't scratch-build models.

Do you cover your costs commercially or do you finance the custom-built models as your hobby?
