I heard the Ireland were going to experiment with trucks and buses driving on the right. If successful they would get the cars and bikes to do it too!...LOL

http://users.telenet.be/worldstandards/driving%20on%20the%20left.htm#historyMost interesting.A good read. I have driven in Sweden and have spoken to a few old timers (like myself) who remember driving on the left. When they changed,it caused chaos for a while.:)

Interesting article!
Here in sweden we drive on the right side since 3 september 1967.
Before that they drove on the left side. But... the cars had the steering wheel on the left side too... Buses often had it on the right side, but some of them had them in the middle and some at the left side. One bad thing with the switch-over was that the tram service was cancelled and almost every tram track were 'dismantled'. But only in Stockholm. Malmö had their trams until 1973-ish and Göteborg and Norrköping still have their trams.
By the way, on the horse time I would have had some problems. I'm not right-handed. Neither am I left-handed. I'm ambidextrous :)

The people who are living in Great Britain or Ireland are used to driving on right side. Although they have some experiments about driving on left side, they didn't get good results. I think that they will not be able to change their habits because they have driven on right side for many years. Therefore, it is very difficult for them to change.

I drove in the UK for long years. I admit I found it strange at first when I cam out here but one gets used to so quickly. When in the UK i find it weird to drive on that side of the road.
