A fire engine in Los Angeles has sunk into a large hole caused by a burst water main in the San Fernando Valley.
It is thought the crew were responding to a pipe break on a residential street.
All firefighters escaped without injury as the cabin slowly continued to sink into the muddy water-filled hole.

Cavitation due to scouring (especially from leakage from a pressurised pipe) is commonplace. The surface 'structure' - usually a solid material such as tarmac or concrete can disguise this until a heavy load causes this to break through.
