As 'unlikely' as this particular device might seem, there were many such 'inventions' that were planned - and some of them actually made it:-

Anybody know of others?

Regarding Pluto - one of my fathers stories concerned the pipeline in France stating there was hardly anything coming out the pipe as so many people further back the pipeline were cutting in and helping themselves.

Snowcruiser
Not really WW2 but still of interest as I think there was only one made.
Looks like they used aircraft tyres with little or no tread, which seems silly.
