Having viewed Robertdavey6 photo taken on Northampton Services on the M1. Set me thinking how many Motorway Services have under gone a name change.
Rothersthorpe to Northampton
Anderton to Bolton (I think, not been to Gods Country for a while)
Can't remember the original name but the last one south bound on M1 changed to London Gateway.
Anybody know of any more?

Scratchwood services.
Looks like the southbound entrance is still very tight!

It is built on the site of the proposed junction 3 of the M1 with a spur to the A1. This link was never built and the never-opened roundabout junction was adapted to provide access to the service area - however traffic travels the "wrong way" around the roundabout, hence some sharp turns on the slip roads.

Farthing Corner is now Medway.
Hilton Park is, I think, Birmingham North
I presume the idea is to more "instinctively" locate them for the general motorists. Bloody confusing for the older drivers who still use the old names. I refer to Rothersthorpe and one driver (31ish) doesn't know where I mean.

"Original name (Farthing Corner) is derived like most MSA from the nearest village, the name change to Medway, represents the M2's role as the Medway towns by-pass "
So we lose the names that suggest a rural location and replace them with faceless route locations . . .
